Youngest of 3 boys, Kacey, spent most of his young life in hospital and his parents were eventually told that he would need a transplant of liver, spleen, intestine and bowel. Kacey was eventually matched to a donor and received his transplant. This was a huge surgery and Kacey surpassed all medical expectations- initially it was thought he would need to be in the hospital for several months to recover, however he was discharged just a month after his surgery. The whole family needed to isolate for 6 months to ensure Kacey’s recovery.
Due to having to isolate, the family were required to stay at home throughout the summer holidays. How tough for a family with three lively boys so we were asked to buy some outdoor equipment for the boys to use and – hopefully – keep them busy over the long holidays.
We bought a selection – football, basketball, a small trampoline………………………. and the boys had a wonderful time but best of all – Kacey was well enough to run, jump, kick the ball and laugh.
